DIRECTOR: STORYBOTS ANSWER TIME
I directed 6 episodes of Netflix’s StoryBots Answer Time - but unlike what you find on most shows, directing meant I had a hand in almost all aspects of the show. My responsibilities included:
Initial story conception and writing
Brainstorming with Executive Producers
Thumbnail pass
Directing storyboard artists through revisions
Working with Art Director to set style of episode
Art Directing selected sequences
Look Development
Character Design
Working with editors to create animatic
Running voice recording sessions
Reviewing episode for shipment to overseas studio
Calling retakes, doing draw-overs
Music spotting, SFX spotting, Mixing
Casting
Approval for final delivery
Directing Sizzle Reel
“Glue” Featuring Weird Al Yankovic - Rough Animatic
We were lucky enough to get Weird Al Yankovic to play the part of Emmett, and to sing a song all about how Glue works. I had a vision for a surreal sequence to match Al’s awesome performance, so I boarded the sequence myself. I also art directed the visuals, and animated most of the backgrounds. Oh yeah, and as with all episodes, I was Animation Director.
