DIRECTOR: STORYBOTS ANSWER TIME

I directed 6 episodes of Netflix’s StoryBots Answer Time - but unlike what you find on most shows, directing meant I had a hand in almost all aspects of the show. My responsibilities included:

  • Initial story conception and writing

  • Brainstorming with Executive Producers

  • Thumbnail pass

  • Directing storyboard artists through revisions

  • Working with Art Director to set style of episode

  • Art Directing selected sequences

  • Look Development

  • Character Design

  • Working with editors to create animatic

  • Running voice recording sessions

  • Reviewing episode for shipment to overseas studio

  • Calling retakes, doing draw-overs

  • Music spotting, SFX spotting, Mixing

  • Casting

  • Approval for final delivery

“Glue” Featuring Weird Al Yankovic - Rough Animatic

We were lucky enough to get Weird Al Yankovic to play the part of Emmett, and to sing a song all about how Glue works. I had a vision for a surreal sequence to match Al’s awesome performance, so I boarded the sequence myself. I also art directed the visuals, and animated most of the backgrounds. Oh yeah, and as with all episodes, I was Animation Director.
